Safer than explosives, just as exciting, join us to contra dance to calling by David Ernst, and music by the Open Band, meaning whoever wants to play.
Join us on June 28, 8 p.m., music by Iron Curtain Meltdown & caller John Teskey. We start the evening at 7 p.m. with a waltz workshop, led by Vickie Gruner.
Our friends in Bloomington move their summer dances from Harmony School to the Boys and Girls Club, 311 S. Lincoln (just south of Third St.).
Dancing will be there on Wednesdays, June 29 through August 2011, and also on the 5th Saturday, July 30th. This is on the east side of the Third Street Park. Lincoln is one way heading North.
Indy area contra dancers are cordially invited to a special contra dance featuring the band Coffee Zombies and caller Ken Gall, on Saturday night, June 18, from 8 PM to 11 PM, at the Woodruff Place Town Hall, 735 Woodruff Place East Drive, Indianapolis. There is no admission charge. We’ll have drinks and snacks – food and beverage contributions are welcome. This dance is sponsored by the Indianapolis Traditional Music and Dance Group, Barry Levitt and Joanne Classick.
Join us June 14th, to contra dance to music by Emily Ann Thompson, and calling by Cincinnati’s Frank Buschelmann.
Due to unforeseen scheduling conflict at Earth House, we can’t dance on Tuesday, June 7th. Instead, everybody (over 18) is invited to meet at MacNiven’s Scottish American Restaurant and Bar at 9 p.m.
MacNiven’s serves both food and beer (wine, spirits, etc.), and everyone, of all ages, is welcome at Indy Contra dances, “MacNiven’s is an Over 18 Only Establishment.”
Our location, Earth House, was featured on Channel 13’s community spotlight; Jordan describes the many activities, including us, that happen there. Take a look (fyi, may not work on firefox on a mac – use Safari or Chrome):
Everyone’s welcome to dance, & practice and share those “beyond the basics” tips learned in last month’s workshop.

Bob Duffy calls to “Indy’s best traditional Irish band,” Ennis Clare.
