We will still have Gypsy Moon Ball at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, but our regular Tuesday night dances, and more frequent weekend dances, are moving as of April 1, 2014.

We’re happy to have traveling band  & caller Relative Harmony with Judy Greenhill on March 11th.

We’re pleased to feature Sassafras Stomp, who were a big hit at Catapult, a weekend featuring new contra talent. A friend wrote, “heard some pretty awesome folks– but we were really drawn to a band called “Sassafras Stomp.” As you can imagine, there was some pretty great talent- but these folks were fantastic!”

With them comes Michael Hamilton, calling!

We feature a visiting guest caller, Lexington’s Judy Goldsmith, with music by Hoosier Tones.

We held the annual membership meeting and board election. For  2014, the board is:

We’ll divide roles & responsibilities at our upcoming meeting, Thursday, February 27, at Barry’s. All interested are welcome! You need not be a board member to attend, participate, or help out.

Beach Party 2014 is in a new place, at a time we haven’t traditionally danced:

Sunday, March 23, 2014, from 2 – 5 p.m., at Grove Haus, in Fountain Square, 1001 Hosbrook Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46203.

Music by Convolution and friends, who, like the callers, will be donating their talent for the event.

This dance is a fundraiser to help cover our ongoing expenses. Weekly dance admissions paid aren’t enough to cover our regular costs, much less things like new equipment, so we always welcome donations. Please let us know if you want a receipt; we are a 501(c)3 charity, so donations are tax deductible (if you itemize).

We hope dancers will take advantage of the Sunday afternoon time and gather at nearby restaurants for lunch and/or dinner.

Please add Grove Haus, in Fountain Square, 1001 Hosbrook Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46203 to your address book. Indy Contra plans to start dancing there regularly this spring.

We still dance at Zion Evangelical UCC on Tuesday nights, but we anticipate holding regular weekend events, and perhaps more, at Grove Haus.

Details are being worked out, but we want dancers to have early notice of this new site.

February 11th includes a short break for the annual board elections. All members are eligible to vote. Before & after, we dance to music by Convolution & John Teskey calling.
