July 10th we have an unexpected change of band: music by Entwyned with Vickie Stohl
& caller John Teskey.
Even though it won’t be in the 100’s, it’s still summer. Guys especially may want to bring a 2nd (or 3rd) shirt, as dancing can be sweaty. Gals, especially, might want to wear something with a little texture, as silky smooth clothes can be slippery, especially when touched with moist hands. These tips are not gender exclusive! Ladies who perspire and men whose partners have to dig in to hold on are equally encouraged to consider how wardrobe choices influence everyone’s dance experience.
Indy Contra folks will be at the Indiana Fiddlers Gathering at Battleground this weekend. Tentative Saturday schedule has “5:30 p.m. Contra & Square Dance w/ Bum Ditty Barn Dance Band and caller Paul Tyler.” We’ll have fliers & enthusiasm. Join us, and do let the board know of other events that you could take dance fliers to!
Tuesday, June 12th. Be there before 8:00 so you can change shoes, stretch, and be ready to dance to music by http://www.perpetuale-motion.com/ and calling by Will Mentor. All welcome to Yats for dinner at 6 pm, and then to the ice cream social afterwards at Ken and Carole Gall’s house.
We have Irish music by Sarah Shreko on fiddle, Dianna Davis on accordion and foot percussion, and Steve Johnson on Bouzouki and guitar. It’s Open Calling night, so arrive early if you’re interested. If you don’t have a stash of contra dances, we can suggest some basic ones good for trying it out.
