10/9

Tuesday 10/9 we have music by Entwyned with John Teskey calling. It’s also the deadline to save $10 on Gypsy Moon Ball registration. Bring your form (with a check) to the dance, bring a check – we’ll have forms available, or mail them postmarked 10/9/2012.

Emily Ann Thompson with Open Calling

October 2nd, we continue our new-ish tradition: first Tuesday of each month is either open band (first Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September, November. Led by Dianna, John, & Twy) or open calling (first Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October, December).

9/18 61st Pl. Project with Bob Duffy Calling

Bring friends! New dancer orientation at 7:30, first contra at 7:45. Why wait?

We appreciate help with pickup, sweeping, and putting stuff away, so we’re out the door and headed to MacNiven’s by 9:59 pm. Members of the church building committee lock up after us, and it’s a late night for them!

Possum Project & David Ernst.

Don’t know what a Possum Project is? Come dance & find out, September 11. Don’t forget our new start and end times, 7:45 to 9:45. We need to pickup, sweep, and put everything away, and be out the door so the church staff can lock it by 10pm on the nose! They’re volunteers, coming in late on a worknight to secure the building and we can’t keep them waiting.

Post Labor Day open band

On the day after Labor Day we’ll share the work of making music! All musicians are welcome to join the open band. John Teskey will call. Open band has a long history in contra dancing, and it’s lots of fun, in part because people can play all sorts of instruments! Making music together is a community activity, just like dancing together. Here’s the fabulous open band in Washington, DC:

New start & end times: 7:45-9:45!

Indy Contra, effective immediately, has new start and end times for our weekly Tuesday night dances.  First contra is at 7:45 and waltzing must end by 9:45! We need to have all cleanup done (chairs stacked, fans and sound equipment away, floor swept, and everybody out the door) by 10:00pm or we turn into a pumpkin. Or worse. Trust us, it won’t be pretty!
