ITMDG Children at Dance Policy

To promote the safety of all dancers and the enjoyment of our contra dance, it is the policy of the Indianapolis Traditional Music and Dance Group, Inc. to request small children without previous contra dance experience to participate in a dance orientation for the purpose of assessing their ability prior to joining a regular dance. A dance orientation for new dancers is sometimes held prior to the first dance of the evening: contact a board member to express your interest in participating in or leading a dance orientation. Early in the dance evening, the caller may announce a dance open to all dancers, young and old, new and experienced, in which small children are welcome to participate.
