I. Dance Gypsy Troupe request
We have had a request for a group of dancers, musicians, and caller to teach a group of beginning dancers in Muncie. Jan will be determining whether we will be able to gather the dance gypsy troupe for that date in December within the budget this group has available.
II. Gypsy Moon Ball in review
We proclaim the Gypsy Moon Ball a success! Although attendance was down slightly again this year, we did see some profit. Planning is already underway for next year's ball, which we plan to keep as a weekend dance. We have been informed by Camp Belzer, that the hall we've been using for the last 3 years has been slated for demolition. Suggestions for a new hall were taken, and all members have been drafted to look for new locations.
III. Financial Report
The financial report for August through October was presented by Barry. Our group is solvent. Attendance for the month of October was down, but has risen again in the last weeks.
IV. Jan 1 Dance
Due to our rental agreement with the Athenaeum, we are unable to use our regular dance hall on the first Tuesday of the year. We are planning to move the dance to an alternative location if a band and caller can be scheduled for the dance. Flyers will be distributed for the next dances advertising the new dance location.
V. Beach Party Dance
We are planning a special Saturday dance for February 23 of 2002. Locations for the dance were discussed, and further planning is underway. Suggestions for a Mardi Gras theme for the February 12th Tuesday dance were also taken.
VI. Schedule/Newsletter
Susan gave an update on the next quarter schedule, and potential out of town callers and bands. There was a discussion for a change in format and management for our quarterly newsletter.
VII. New board elections
Three board positions are open for election in 2002. Nominations for the coming year will be taken until the end of December. Ballots will be distributed and tallied a few weeks into January. Jan volunteered to be a member of the election committee.
VIII. Next board meeting
The next board meeting will be held at The Nature Conservancy office at 7pm on Thursday, February 21.
