  • ITMDG Board Meeting Minutes - 11/15/2000

Present: Ed Paynter, Barbara Cesnik, Barry Levitt, Susan Meyer, Carole Gall and Janet Withers

Board of Directors President Ed Paynter called the meeting at 6224 College Avenue to order at 7:05 pm.

Levitt presented the Treasurer's report, which the board discussed and accepted. Gypsy Moon Ball (GMB) attendance was lower than last year. A small profit was made. Costs were discussed but the budgets for the 2001 event and for next year were deferred to the new board.

Our contract with the Athenaeum was discussed. Carole has again agreed to work out details with the management.

The board is preparing to run its first election. Jan agreed to form a nominating committee with two other members to be named. The committee will attempt to recruit candidates for the ballot and to prepare the ballot for the membership.

The same person, Lisa Ornstein, has been scheduling our weekly dances for two years now. The board agreed to ask Ardath Stroble to take on this duty in 2001. A "thank you" night was scheduled for Lisa when she calls next. Arrangements were made to purchase a gift and to bring refreshments.

    Future special events were discussed:

Indiana Historical Society - Everyone who attended the July 22 event this year felt this was a good event for us. We will attempt to make similar arrangements for 2001. In contrast, the board decided not to participate in next year's Indiana State Fair.

We discussed offering a "contra dance package" to groups that contact us to ask to have a contra dance. The package would include a certain number of dancers, a caller and one of our local bands. The board agreed that this might be a good idea and committed to discuss it further.

    The meeting adjourned at 8:30.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Ed Paynter
