Indy Contra Board Meeting, 1/15/2008
1. Nominations
1. Board has 7 slots with 4 members returning this year (Ken, Jan, Christopher, and Jaena).
2. Need to elect 3 people (to fill the slots for Dan, Vicky, and Chris).
3. Ballots: Juliet is going to create the ballots and include bios and pictures of each candidate.
4. Possible nominees: Chris is willing to serve again, but not as treasurer. Kathryn Millis (current webmaster) would like to be on the board.
Dave Culp would be willing to serve on board. Need to talk up newer people.
2. Elections
1. Want to hold elections on February 19th, so ballots need to be sent out on February 5th.
2. Absentee ballots will be handled by Juliet since sheÕs sending out all the ballots. An email will be sent to members about ballots
and they can send in a printed ballot, vote via email, or use the paper ballots at the dance on the 19th.
3. Annual Meeting will be held on February 19th.
3. Sound & New Calendar
1. Christopher wonÕt be doing sound this quarter, but heÕs trying to line up people who can.
2. GaryÕs doing sound for January.
3. VickyÕs got some of the talent lined up for the next quarter.
4. Attendance
1. HavenÕt had good attendance lately. Want to know what other groups are charging.
2. Increasing annual dues from $12 to $15.
3. Under 25, Over 85: Get in for $5 (whether theyÕre members or not)
4. Want to get logo and business cards. Jaena will check with her sister, a graphic designer, about working on this.
5. Beach Party Flyers
1. Kathryn created these and sent some to JanJam.
2. We still have plenty.
6. Miscellaneous
1. JanÕs going to take over ChrisÕs role as treasurer.
2. Phone list/roster of members and other regular dancers
1. Fiona has info for GMB and can send that info out.
2. Chris also has list of official members.
3. ThereÕs interest in taking a contra dance to one of the university campuses.
4. Conner Praerie, in the past, has invited contra to come dance there around June.
5. Additions to the newsletter:
1. Annual due increase.
2. Under 25/Over 85 promotional rate.
3. Clothes Swap, Feb 19th (has been changed to Feb 12th)
4. Annual meeting and elections, Feb. 19th.
