Indianapolis Contra Dances

Saturday & Sunday at Camp Belzer in northeastern Indianapolis.

BOTMDG hosts a Friday night contra at the Harmony School in Bloomington, IN (50 miles south of Indianapolis). Details on BOTMDG website.

Greetings to everyone coming to Gypsy Moon Ball this Saturday and Sunday in Indianapolis, and/or the associated contra dance Friday night in nearby Bloomington, IN!
And words of encouragement if you've thought of coming, but not pre-registered: There is space for walk-in dancers! Housing is available (we would appreciate a phone call esp. if you want to stay with local dancers).

Bloomington Old-Time Music and Dance Group hosts a Friday night dance at the Harmony School in Bloomington, IN (50 miles south of Indianapolis, see map and info here). 6:00 DINNER. Please bring a prepared dish. Kitchen available for reheating only. Snacks for the rest of the dance are welcome!
8:00 COSTUMED CONTRA DANCE BEGINS with music by the Great Bear Trio and calling by Gaye Fifer
10:00 music by Chicory, calling by Susan Moffett
1 am DANCE ENDS

11 am BRUNCH. Indy dancers will provide the main dishes and beverages. Please pitch-in the side dishes and extras!
12 pm CONTRA DANCE!

Friday: $4 BOTMDG members, $5 non-members
Saturday and Sundayr: $40

TRAVEL:
Travel should be easy! Weather will be clear, and no construction delays are anticipated. Other exits on I 70 may be closed, but lane restrictions, etc. will be lax to accommodate a Colts football game Sunday 4:30 p.m.

Follow construction zone speed limits and watch for extra enforcement as Interstate speed limits quickly drop from 70 mph to 65, 60, and 55 mph around Indy.

FRIDAY to BLOOMINGTON from north, east, or west: Take I 70 to 465 South (heading clockwise or counterclockwise) to 37 South.

From BLOOMINGTON to Saturday & Sunday dancing: Take 37 North to 465 North/East (counterclockwise) to 56th.
From OHIO or ILLINOIS to Saturday & Sunday dancing: I 70 exits to 465 North are open. (signs about lane restrictions refer to travel downtown, not Gypsy Moon's location).
From NORTH to Saturday & Sunday dancing: Take 465 to NorthWest Indy; no special restrictions.

HOUSING
Friday night: Email BausXXXATalumni.indiana.edu, but take out the XXX and change AT.
Saturday night: Please call housing coordinator, Ken at 317-488-7751 to reserve $5 bed in shared cabin or housing local dancers. (Bring bedding!) Tent camping is free. A list of nearby hotels (several with in room hot tubs), with costs and approximate drive time to Gypsy Moon, is here
