Scheduling responsibility has been shifted from Fred Haver to Juliet Port and Dianna Davis. Traveling bands & callers, and others with questions/comments/etc. related to calling or playing for our dances, email Juliet & Dianna at indycontra.schedule@gmail.com.

E-Mail Lists

New Google Groups distribution & conversation lists: We have 2 new "email" lists.

One is for regulars/locals, and allows members to post messages & discuss topics. (We'll use it for ride sharing, lost & found, travel alerts, invitations to non-dance events, & other conversations and community building.)

The second is for people who only want a handful of messages each year, announcing our weekend dances, quarterly schedule, and other events. Only IndyContra administrators can post messages.

To get signed up for either, please email indycontra@gmail.com, saying whether you want to be on discussion or announcements, or both.

Bands and callers who wish to be on a special list just for those playing and calling in Indy, please contact indycontra@gmail.com

Guidelines for the IndyContra Google Groups discussion & member postings:
  • Members are invited to post and discuss topics that are dance related or likely to be of interest to the IndyContra community as a whole, such as other dance events, out-of-town dances, ride-sharing, social gatherings open to the dance community, party or pre-dance dinner invitations, etc.
  • Do not post messages with attachments (no pdfs, Word files, jpgs., etc.. Information must be included as plain text only in the body of the email. Send copies of or links to fliers, movies, and photographs to indycontra@gmail.com and we can generally post them & supply a link for you.
  • When you are composing a reply, Please! check who it's going to. It should go to the sender only, not to the whole group, unless your response is of interest to everyone. Be mindful of the dreaded "Reply All" button.
  • If you are forwarding messages from other lists or dance groups, please post only the needed text. Delete out the extraneous characters and text such as other email addresses.
  • Normal rules of civil social interaction should apply to all postings. In other words, please be nice.
  • Problems with another list member's posting should be directed to indycontra@gmail.com, not the individual member. No member should criticize another, even jokingly, please, because we don't all recognize your dry or tongue in cheek sense of humor.
  • Do not post non-dance/general information postings. This includes: advertisements, spam, viruses, chain letters, well-meaning virus warnings, jokes, noble causes, etc.
  • To unsubscribe or with other requests or problems, email indycontra@gmail.com. Do not send such requests to the whole list.
