The IndyContra "Discussion" list is an unmoderated email list that focuses primarily on contra dancing in Indianapolis. The schedule and announcements for IndyContra are posted to the list on a quarterly basis, as are discussions pertaining to the organization needs and concerns of the IndyContra group.
To subscribe to the discussion group, send an email to owner-discussion@indycontra.org with subject "Subscribe". If you mention your favourite dance hall, dance move, dance band, or anything else that makes you sound like a human instead of a spambot, you'll get added faster.
"Announcements Only" is an email list that receives the quarterly schedule and other official announcements from IndyContra about Indianapolis dances, without discussion from the other list members
To subscribe to the special-announcements group, just send an email to Majordomo@indycontra.org with the text "subscribe special-announcements" in the message body.
"Talent" is an email list for our regular bands and callers. This list was primarly formed to expedite scheduling, and only includes band members or callers who play or will soon be playing at Indy contradances.

Guidelines for the IndyContra Discussion List:
Members may post and discuss topics that are dance related or may be of interest to the IndyContra community as a whole, such as other dance events, out-of-town dances, ride-sharing, social gatherings open to the dance community, etc.
Do not post messages with attachments. They are automatically blocked by the server, so all information must be included as plain text only in the body of the email.
When you are composing a reply, check the distribution list. It should go to the sender only, not to the listserve, unless your response concerns the whole list. Be mindful of the dreaded "Reply All" button. This listserve is set up to automatically reply back only to the original sender of the message, and in most cases this is the option most folks want. However, individual email program may override this option and send a reply back to the sender as well as the entire list.
If you are forwarding messages from other lists or dance groups, please post only the needed text. Delete out the extraneous characters and text such as other email addresses and internet "junk".
Normal rules of civil social interaction should apply to all postings. In other words, please be nice.
Problems with another list member's posting should be directed to listowner@indycontra.org, not the individual member. No list member should criticize another; the list manager should deal with problems.
Do not post non-dance/general information postings. This includes: advertisements, spam, viruses, chain letters, well-meaning virus warnings, jokes, noble causes, etc.
To unsubscribe or have other listserv related questions, please contact listowner@indycontra.org . Do not send such requests to the whole list.
